At Nowak Design Studio, we are proud of our roots and even more excited about our future. Our company, once called Nowak Cabinets, was founded in 1990 as a family business. Since then, we have stayed committed to great craftsmanship, customer service, and integrity.
When Brent and Shannon Boncher bought the business in 2018, they brought new energy and ideas. This led to growth while keeping the family values and expert knowledge that have defined us for many years.
Our rebranding to Nowak Design Studio is more than a name change. It shows how our services have evolved to better reflect who we are today.
We still provide the custom cabinets and personal service that made us well-known. However, we have added more options for complete design solutions for kitchens, bathrooms, and more. This change helps us improve our clients’ homes in new and exciting ways. We combine our craftsmanship with a wider design vision.

Brent &
Shannon Boncher
Owners
Brent and Shannon are proud to own Nowak Cabinets. The company has a strong history of quality, design, and craftsmanship.
They feel incredibly blessed to work with their staff, who are some of the most talented and dedicated people in the industry.
Brent and Shannon reside on Old Mission Peninsula, and they are family-oriented and faith-centered. Together they have five children, four of which attend Traverse City Schools and participate locally in various sports. They participate in the community as committee members, financial donors, and volunteers for numerous organizations and events.
They support Single Momm, the Elk Rapids Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, and the Women’s Resource Center. They also help other non-profit groups and small businesses grow in the area.
Brent and Shannon enjoy boating, skiing, hiking, and all northern Michigan lifestyle activities in their free time. Brent and Shannon are blessed to call this home and look forward to meeting you.
George Brown
Senior Designer
George graduated from the University of Michigan. Throughout his real estate, business, and construction career, he has always maintained an eye for quality, attention to detail, and expert craftsmanship.
This is likely one of the many reasons his designs and customer service have garnered him many design awards throughout the years.
His experience includes a successful full-service interior design firm & showroom serving the San Diego waterfront and luxury market before returning home to northern Michigan.
Because of his keen eye, out-of-the-box thinking, and ‘Details Matter’ approach, he has completed projects in quality homes in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and Florida in addition to California and Michigan.
He is well-versed in all construction phases, but his love of cabinetry and what it brings to a home drew him to Nowak Cabinets.
Erica Berg
Designer & Office Manager
Erica graduated from Baker College with a degree in Interior Design in 2004.
Erica grew up in the construction world, learning from her father. She has a sharp eye for how her designs work with the home’s systems and style.
She has developed a five-star reputation in the area as being a wonderful designer to work with because of her communication, resourcefulness, and accuracy.
Builders and customers are flocking to Nowak Cabinets as they see how smoothly projects go with Erica at the helm.
Erica has two children who attend Elk Rapids Schools.
Her professionalism is equaled by her passion for her community as she dedicates significant volunteer hours to animal rescue, an Elk Rapids food pantry, and Habitat for Humanity.
Tracey Nowak
Designer
Tracey has been a kitchen and bath designer for decades with an unparalleled reputation for attention to detail and accuracy.
The breadth and depth of her experience, which, paired with her easy-going character and incredible work ethic make her one of the top designers in the area.
She has 3 children with Joe who all graduated from Elk Rapids schools.
If you have Tracey as your designer, you can be assured that you and your project are receiving the utmost attention.
Meghan Autin
Designer
Meghan was a project manager for a certified structural steel fabricator and erector as well as an office manager for a cabinetry company that specialized in cost-effective home remodeling services before finding her home at Nowak Cabinets.
Meghan is intensely passionate about the industry. She offers her clients a unique and honest experience.
